Yee, this article really helped me, as i have been very confused about data abstraction, but i think you can do more by providing little example for those that may not fully understand by just reading text until they sees some kind of code example, though i`m not that type.

Good Job

Hi,

From last few days I was searching for a good real time example of data abstraction. But not a single one was satisfactory. Finally I got this article on data abstraction. Now my doubt is cleared about data abstraction. Thanks a lot for such a beautiful knowledge transfer.

With Regards,

My point is if the process is not effective then the result will be ineffective which results in selection of ineffective candidates. And the process depends on the company.
May be my area of expertise matters.

@Hero

Probably you misunderstood my post. I am not talking about the effectiveness of the Candidate... I am talking about the process..

You have spent about 12 hours in the walk in.. How tiring youw would have been then.. How tiring the panel would have been then... thats what my whole point is about... .

My experience is I got a Job through Walk-In and I was in the company for a whole saturday (Morning 8:00 AM to evening 8:00 PM) and got an offer.

Also the interview process differs from company to company.
The company I attended interview was having 3 interview panels on that day and there were 3-4 rounds of interview.
HR-Screening, Technical Interview, Senior Management Interview and HR Interview.

My technical interviewer was a knowledgeable person(not writing this because he selected me) and outspoken. He was trying to make me think and get the best out of me. I enjoyed and didn't feel it was an interview but a discussion between two of them. After I joined the company I came to know about my interviewer (normally I remember all my interviewers and after joining the company will try to find out about my interviewer and his skills etc...)

So it is not just all the walk-ins are ineffective but based on the company one attends walk-ins.

I have attended all kinds of interview process mentioned in your blog.

This blog makes the reader feel that those who were selected in walk-ins are not effeciently selected.

This is a good idea. If you are looking for a place to publish the screencasts, check out ShowMeDo.com. I have published a couple of screencasts there.

Would you guys be interested in making a screencasts of all the tools that are used in Agile dev.

I can volunteer to help. I am based in Mysore but we can talk. I think this will break the initial hesitation of people to overcome revealing what they do not know. If you guys are interested, we can take this as a project. Hopefully others will join in as well and things will be better for the entire community. And we could call this as a Community initiative to have screencasts of as many agile tools as possible and publishing them somewhere.

Balaji,

Thanks for your comment. Yesterday, after the conference, I spent sometime reading your blog and about your innovation. You are doing a great job. Nice to be associated with such a nice person.

Want to start your private office arms race right now?

I just got my own USB rocket launcher :-) Awsome thing.

Plug into your computer and you got a remote controlled office missile launcher with 360 degrees horizontal and 45 degree vertival rotation with a range of more than 6 meters - which gives you a coverage of 113 square meters round your workplace.
You can get the gadget here: http://tinyurl.com/2qul3c

Check out the video they have on the page.

Cheers

I was really dying to learn Programming language, the more I study self the more complicated it seemed. But this page gave me insight with the practical explanation ( refering to the train booking counter). I hope these examples clears the idea and gives the real meaning and clears the difinition of the comuter keywords.
Hope to get more from your site.

Hey!

I really liked the fact you focused on also being a better person - that's key to being a better developer to some degree. No amount of technical skill makes up for a lack of personal skill, unless you're constantly doing projects with a team of one. =)

Keep writing!

Great. I am inspired by your blog. You know, I have been visiting your blog quite often because of the quality of the content but more than once you post something and then I see a long gap and don't know what happened to your goal. This time around, I hope you will be able to accomplish what you want to. Good luck and all the best.

Thanks Azagu, I am able to follow the link now. There must have been some issue with the website yesterday.

The link points to a good resource. Especially since the definitions come from reliable sources.

That's a very nice explanation of Abstraction. Your previous blog entry "What is data abstraction" is also equally well written.

For some strange reason, the second link "Abstraction, Encapsulation, and Information Hiding" does not seem to open up.

Hi ur 100% right, i am working in a same company from the last 4 years and given my resignation before 10 days bcoz of the same reason. For me there is no one even a project manager or some senior from whom i can learn things, i learned lot of new things and implemented on my own. But still i don't know whatever i did is right. Now i got an offer in a MNC. Will see what others are following, what is the industry standard and try to learn the gap.

Do you know if it's possible to restrict a class implemention to the exact interface definition? That is: I want to prevent a class implementation CSomething : ISomething {} to have a public doThis() method, if it's not in the ISomething interface, too. How to achieve this?

Greetings,
Hans
